Control of Large Patch Disease in Zoysia japonica by Applying a Mixture of Bio-sulfur and Tebuconazole

Abstract

This study was conducted to evaluate the control of large patch disease on zoysiagrass (Zoysia japonica) by applying tebuconazole and bio-sulfur (BS). Treatments were as follows: Control (non-treatment), bio-sulfur treatment (BS, 1.0 mL m-2), tebuconazole treatment (T, 0.125 a.i. g m-2), T+BS treatment (T 0.125 a.i. g m-2+BS 1.0 mL m-2), and 0.75T+BS treatment (T 0.094 a.i. g m-2+BS 1.0 mL m-2). After applying BS, T, or their mixtures, damage in the leaves of zoysiagrass was not shown. As compared to control, disease area of large patch in BS treatment was not significantly different. Disease control efficacy of T, T+BS, and 0.75T+BS treatment without vertical mowing and aeration was 55.0-68.3, 50.0-57.9, and 41.4-70.0%, respectively, and with vertical mowing and aeration 21.6-31.0, 44.8-60.8, and 6.9-57.6%, respectively. In the t-test between T and a mixture of BS treatments, disease control of T+BS and 0.75T+BS was not significantly different. These results showed that the BS might be applied as an adjuvant in the control of large patch in the golf course because tebuconazole application with BS decreased by about 25% than without BS.
